Dr Russell Eggleton
I grew up in Hamilton and graduated from Otago University in 2011. I worked in hospitals in Tauranga and Auckland before entering general practice in 2017. I enjoy all areas of general practice and my special interests include paediatrics, cardiology, men‘s health and minor surgery. Outside of work I’m busy chasing my three children and enjoying sports including running, golf, tennis and volleyball.
I am not currently taking on new patients.
Dr John Carter
I enjoy the diversity of general practice and appreciate the bonds that have developed with families over the years. I have an interest in skin cancer treatment and I am an Accredited Skin Cancer Doctor with the Skin Cancer College Australasia. This means that I have completed a high level of training with the College and have proven skills in the diagnosis, treatment and management of skin cancer. When I‘m not at work, I’m busy being dad to my two girls. I enjoy tennis and cycling to work! I am not currently accepting new patients.
Dr Catherine Cearns
Cath joined the practice in 1999 after gaining her Fellowship with the Royal New Zealand College of GPs. She is interested in all areas of family practice and particularly enjoys youth health. She appreciates the privilege of walking alongside patients in their health journeys. She loves spending time with her family and friends, playing tennis and being in nature. Cath is unable to take on new patients.
Dr Tony Chiu
Dr Tony Chiu grew up in Mt Roskill and graduated from Auckland Medical School in 2012. He has worked in Auckland, Middlemore and North Shore hospitals in a wide variety of disciplines. He has a passion for skin cancer medicine and dermatology. He is an Accredited Doctor in Skin Cancer Medicine through the Skin Cancer College Australasia. His other specialty interests include minor surgery, men’s health, paediatrics and cardiology. Tony is married with children and enjoys spending time with family and playing sports. Tony is not currently accepting new patients.
Dr Helen Schimanski
Dr Helen Schimanski joined our practice permanently in 2007. She is interested in all areas of family and emergency medicine and has further qualifications in paediatrics. Helen is not currently taking new patients.
Dr Allison Shaw
Dr Allison Shaw joined our practice in 2010 and is a mother to 3 active boys. She graduated from Auckland Medical School in 2005 and has extra qualifications in Paediatrics. She is interested in all aspects of general practice and family medicine with a particular interest in Paediatrics. Allison is not taking new patients.
Dr Scott McLaren
I grew up in Howick and was schooled at Macleans College. I studied Medicine at Auckland University, graduated in 2000 and completed by basic surgical training in 2006. My postgraduate work included five years working in Hamilton and three years in Christchurch. We also spent eight months in outback Western Australia. I am married to physiotherapist Ruth, and we have two sons, Benjamin and Thomas. My hobbies include family, fishing, woodwork and church life. My medical interests include Family Medicine and Children‘s Health, Minor surgical procedures general surgical (pre and post operative, Ear Nose and Throat and, Men’s Health. Scott is not currently taking new patients.
Dr Angela Zhang
Angela joined our practice in 2020, taking over from Dr Lalita Jefferies. She grew up locally, attended EGGS, and graduated from Otago Medical School. She holds further qualifications in Women’s health and skin cancer surgeries. Angela is also fluent in Mandarin, and enjoys spending time with family and her black lab Asher in her spare time. She is not currently accepting new patients.
Dr Andrea Baker
Andrea Baker trained as a Doctor later in life after initially working as a Physical Education Teacher and then completing a Degree in Chinese. After graduating as a Doctor in 2005, she has developed a special interest in preventative healthcare, well being, and women’s health. Andrea is unable to take on new patients.
Dr Julie Holden
Dr Julie Holden has come to us from Christchurch at the start of 2012. She graduated in 1989 from Otago Medical School and has been in a busy practice in Christchurch for the past 15 years. Julie has extra qualifications in gynaecology and family planning and a special interest in women’s health and all aspects of family medicine. She is also a Medical Educator for the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners. Julie works part-time with Lalita Jefferies. Julie is unable to take on new patients.
Dr Fiona McLean
Dr Fiona McLean qualified in Auckland in 1983 and has been working in General Practice since 1990, mainly in Auckland but also in Taranaki, Melbourne and Dublin. Fiona is a generalist and enjoys working with people from all walks of life. She is married with two sons in their late teens. Fiona is unable to take on new patients.
Dr Mahat Vather
I was born in South Africa and migrated to New Zealand in 1994.
I am a vocationally registered Specialist GP with thirty five years experience in General Practice (seven years in South Africa and twenty eight years in Auckland).
I have previously been an examiner for the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners. As a former Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the Department of General Practice, University of Auckland, I have had several years experience in the training of 4th, 5th and 6th year medical students in General Practice.
I am passionate about all aspects of medicine, especially proactive preventive care.
Dr Lalita Jefferies
Lalita has been part of Greenwood Medical Centre for many years. She completed her GP fellowship 2011 and enjoys all aspects of family medicine. She has a strong evidence based approach and enjoys lifestyle coaching and preventative Health. Lalita is married with 4 young adult sons. She is working closely with Dr Angela Zhang.
Dr Trish Reeve
I am originally from Berlin Germany. I obtained my medical degree there but then went to England. After a few more years in England, during which time I qualified as a GP and had two sons, we moved to New Zealand where we have lived the last 11 years.
My special interests are in looking after sick children, working with stressed, anxious or depressed patients. I also have a diploma in in travel medicine.
I speak German, English, French and Spanish fluently.
In my spare time I love to swim preferably in oceans, rivers or lakes. I love spending time with my family. I enjoy baking, designing and creating knitwear and am an avid reader.
Dr Mary Furniss
I am originally from Wellington but moved to Dunedin to complete my medical degree with Otago University. I then worked in a range of specialties across all 3 Auckland hospitals and completed the Paediatric Diploma during placements at Starship Hospital. I enjoy the diversity that GP provides but my particular interests include paediatrics, women’s health and geriatrics.
In my spare time I enjoy cooking for my friends, yoga and hiking.
Dr Francesca Bryant
Dr Francesca Bryant joined the practice in 2023. Francesca graduated from the University of Otago in 2011. She has worked in Hawkes Bay, Auckland, Middlemore and North Shore Hospitals with a focus on internal medicine. She has completed her GP fellowship and has post-graduate qualifications in travel medicine.
She enjoys the breadth of general practice and is particularly passionate about preventative medicine, women’s health, fertility and travel medicine.
Hailing from Christchurch she has also lived in Singapore and Canada over the years.
When not at work you can find her tramping or at the yoga studio, as well as sampling Auckland’s culinary delights.
Dr Harrison Fellowes
I am originally from rural Southland and completed my medical training in Dunedin, graduating from Otago University School of medicine in 2016. I worked in hospital specialties in Invercargill before moving to Auckland in 2018 and working across all the regional hospitals here. After several years training in psychiatry, I made a change to general practice in 2023 and enjoy the diversity of medicine I see each day. Beyond work, I particularly enjoy skiing, tramping, fishing and generally getting into the outdoors.
